Why am I scared to cut my hair?

I ain't afraid of scissors so no answers like that. I have always got it cut and trimmed. I have three aunts that are beauticians; so its not that. I have long hair; but thinking about cutting it about shoulder length into a style. I don't know why I am scared to cut it. I cut it less than two years ago; but now that its long again; I like it long; but know what to do. I won't go no shorter than shoulder length; cuz i don't want to look like a boy. What should I do? Its straight; almost to end of my back; and one length except at the end where i used to have it layers; i am thinking about atleast cutting the rest of that to make it one length or should i try the shoulder length style?

You're scared to cut your hair because it's a big change and you're afraid you won't like the outcome if you cut it. It is just hair though, and if you don't like it shoulder length you can always grow it back.

If you don't want to cut it, don't. If you want to experiment, go for it. I always feel that trimmed hair, not too long, looks more put together.

if you really want it cut i say go for it...sometimes if it gets any longer it looks bad getting it cut shoulder length with straight hair and getting it cut to shape your face with a side bang looks soooo girly and really cute! id say go for it also it is alot easier to take care of

I had this same problem a few years ago. I was tired of it being long and not being able to do anything with it, but just couldn't bring myself to cut it. I think it probably has to do with your identity and how you view yourself. If you view long hair as your "signature" style, cutting that hair would be like cutting off part of your personality. I was always known as "the girl with the long hair" and would constantly get compliments on it, so parting with it was really hard. What if people stopped noticing me now that my hair is short? I cut it and now I'm not "defined" by my hair anymore.

Go ahead and cut it, though. You're more than just "the girl with long hair!"
