Is it possible to cut my own hair?

i really want to get some side bangs and don't feel like spending $80 to get them done at the salon. is it possible to cut my own hair to a similar style like this :

The hairstyle is so pretty, isn't it? But..her hair doesn't merely have bangs. She has carefully cut layers that probably cost her more than we can even imagine, AND someone to perfect it for photo shoots. That shot looks 'wash-n-go', but trust me, it's not.

Even so, you can get the cut...or very similar, IF you have similar hair length, texture, etc. Take the photo in and fork out the bucks...if you don't want to pay the $80, shop around a bit before getting it done. Ask around...I've even walked up to strangers in the mall and asked..lol. Go into a place and watch them cut hair. Show the picture, and ask lots of questions. AND, be sure to check out the hair of the cutter. Choose someone young and current but GOOD.

As for cutting hair yourself....I do mine, but it isn't near as good as having it done. Mine works because it's a short messy style...almost like my avatar.

Yes its possible, however, i am a cosmetologist so i cant recommend it. the hardest part would be doing layers in the back, but you can defiantly do the front.

WOW $80 for a hair cut. The town I live in I can get one for $10 I can get a cut and a color for $50. A high end salon will only charge $20 for a hair cut.

But to answer the question yes some people do cut there own hair personally I'm not that brave.

This is a complicated cut believe it or not because it involves layers. IF you have never cut hair I don't recommend you try it on yourself. You can get a decent cut for less than $80. Check citysearch.com for hair salons in your city. I read great reviews about JC Penney salons so I gave them a try. I was nervous because I had cut my own hair for nearly five years, but my stylist understood what I wanted and did a great job!

sure, just be careful.. if you don't want what you cut to be really blunt, then pull the hair upwards when you cut--when you let it down it will have a layered look
