i have medium brown hair which comes just down to my shoulders and a side fringe. i want a more modern style but not too short. has anyone got any ideas, im open to anything. any pics wouls be great too. thanks

layered, choppy layers and short layers though.

Depends how thick/thin your hair is. If its thick, layer it alot. If its thin, don't layer it and just let it grow and keep the color.

You don't necessarily have to go short for a modern look. Anytime you add bangs to a hairstyle, that will automatically update your look. If they're brushed to one side, that's a plus, too. If you have curly hair bangs may be more difficult to deal with though.

Also, if you're not opposed to coloring, highlights can help add polish and contrast. I have medium brown hair, too. Last summer I got honey blond highlights and it turned out really nice! I like switching the texture up, too by either flat ironing or making it wavy.

I like to look through hairstyle magazines or search for pictures on google under the image search. I always have luck there.
